Review It Runs Deep (english)
Contains ex-members of The Fart Farmers, BBK and
Ataglance as I read in the promo package. Started in
the summer of 2005........... these guys released
this mcd on Crashlanding Records, The Shield
Recordings and DP (Or not DP) etc. etc. etc......
When reading these ex-bandnames I really didn’t
know what to expect. Ataglance is a metalcore kind
of band which is not my cup of tea (which doesn’t
mean they’re not a good band, because these guys
definatly know how to play!). And their singer Bram
didn’t really impress me when I saw them live twice.
Actually he was one of the reasons I didn’t like
Ataglance’s music. Now this guy is singing in this
.Point At Others, so yeah I was quite sceptic with
this band to say at least. The Fart Farmers were a
pretty decent band I my opinion. And BBK? I’m not
familiar with BBK. So with this knowledge I started
listening to this mcd. And damn, this sure is my cup
of tea! Old school hardcore with a rock ‘n roll
touch, not unlike the music of our Dutch hero’s
Gascoigne (which I accidently happen to like a lot).
There are a lot of similarities between these bands,
but both have a sound of their own. The music on
this piece of plastic is played well, there a cool
riffs and the songs are interesting. Bram’s vocals
in this band are way better than in his previous
band, and at times sounds straightforward great. The
soundquality is good, the artwork is nice but
unfortunatly I can’t say anything useful about the
lyrics because these weren’t included with the promo
version.
However, after listening to the six
tracks a few times, I’m still not 100% convinced
yet. Maybe a little more dynamics in the vocals
would be better, because most of his singing sounds
the same. Still this is a very solid release, and
I’m looking forward to new material from this band
in the future. Because there is potential!
